The game officially launched on Steam on June 10, 2026, ending Epic exclusivity. It is also available on Epic Games Store, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (Xbox App), with day-one access on Xbox Game Pass. EA purchasers automatically receive the 1.0 full release at no extra cost. Note: Epic/Xbox purchases and saves cannot be transferred to Steam; the Steam version requires a separate purchase.
Not at all. The game uses instant matchmaking — you can join solo and the system will fill a 33-player room automatically. You can also party up with up to 4 friends and queue together. The "jump right in" design has no lobbies; if players drop mid-run, the system backfills new players.
The game features a three-layer communication system: Emote Wheel (wave, help, gather, etc.), Tactical Pings (mark enemies, indicate directions, request revival), and Co-op Power feedback (hitting the same target as a teammate triggers Co-Strike visual cues). Additionally, intuitive aura effects make it easy to see when allies use heals or buffs — cyan and gold glows on screen let you sense timing without a word.
After each run, resources and relics collected during that run are lost, but permanent Perks and soul upgrades unlocked at Dante are retained. The Bone Shrine is for healing only. This is the classic roguelike loop of "permanent growth + temporary build." In other words: you start each run with zero gear, but your "soul itself" grows ever stronger. Ordeal unlock progress is also permanently saved.
Ordeals are cursed conditions that increase run difficulty — e.g., "enemies are deadlier," "shop prices increase," or "bosses gain new skills." Each Ordeal raises your Agony level but grants richer rewards: more Stardust, Eternal Shards, and rare drops. Beginners should learn the basics first, then gradually enable Ordeals starting at Agony 1–3. Ordeals can be toggled on or off at the Bone Shrine at any time.
The Bone Shrine is a healing checkpoint within runs — 12 per world, costing 25 Bones to restore your and nearby allies' health. It cannot be used before the Ascension Battle, making it the last heal before a boss fight; detour to use it. Additionally, Charon's Shop in the Dark Woods hub lets players spend run tokens on cosmetics, familiars, capes, and halos.
Relics are temporary passive items for a single run — up to 8, obtained from chests/elites, and rerollable. Perks are permanent passives across runs — 6 slots, upgraded to Rank 5 at Dante using Eternal Shards. Simply put: Relics are "how do I play this run," and Perks are "become stronger forever."
